Newfoundland Park and Ride
Early Bird Special: Weekly recreation road rides Saturday/Sunday at the crack of dawn. Beat the heat and the traffic with routes ranging from 30-50 miles, 1200-3500 feet of elevation, and average speed of 14mph-17mph. Distance, elevation, and speed will increase every few weeks. This is a great way for seasonal riders to build up strength and endurance. Everyone is welcome to join! No drop! (we wont leave you behind) Fun and friendly group for new and recurring members.
Less Miles: If you would like to join but would like to do less miles, you can meet the group at the Sussex Branch Trail parking lot at the intersection of Waterloo Rd and Continental Dr in Byram. Most routes pass this parking lot, so if you decide to start here, please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) at least 12 hours prior to the morning ride. If you decide last minute, please text me. [(973) 930-1569] Starting here will take 14 miles off the route. Please be ready on your bike at the parking lot entrance by 6:50am.
Weather: All rides are weather permitting. A decision will be made no later than 12 hours prior to the ride start time.
Canceled/Reschedule: There are times where weather and other personal life events don’t allow the ride to occur on the scheduled date. Sunday is the alternate date for rescheduled rides. If a ride is cancelled, the ride will not occur on Sunday. Members will be notified no later than 12 hours prior to the ride. On weekends where I am not available to lead, I will be looking for a backup ride leader. Please feel free to lead the ride if I cannot. If you would like to volunteer yourself ahead of time, please let me know.
Communication: I don’t always check email the morning of the ride. If you are running late, please call or text me the morning of the ride. We will wait for you up to a maximum of 10 minutes. Please meet at the Sussex Branch Trail if you will be any later and let me know. During the ride please assist other riders by calling out road hazards.
Parking: Please park by the track. If you enter off of Flora ave, go up the small hill and turn right. If you are entering from Durban/Windsor, follow the road until you see the track.
Breakfast/Coffee: Please bring a card or cash with you. Some longer rides may include a stop for refueling.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
See you all soon!
